Six weeks ago, you embarked on a journey—one designed to strengthen the bond between you and your pet, enhance both your well-being, and build lasting, positive habits. Now, as we reach the final week of the PetSure ComPETability Challenge, it’s time to reflect on the progress you’ve made, celebrate your successes, and set intentions for the future.

This journey wasn’t just about small actions; it was about creating a foundation for lifelong wellness, together.

The power of reflection: looking back on your journey

Over the past six weeks, you’ve explored key areas of pet and personal wellness:

  • Week 1: Deepening your bond through meaningful activities.
  • Week 2: Strengthening mental stimulation for a happier, more engaged pet.
  • Week 3: Encouraging healthy socialisation for both pets and owners.
  • Week 4: Enhancing physical health through movement and activity.
  • Week 5: Prioritising quality sleep for better overall well-being.

Think about where you started. What changes have you noticed? Has your pet become more engaged during playtime? Are you both enjoying a more restful sleep? Have you found joy in new activities together, connected with other pets or pet parents? Reflecting on these questions can help to solidify the progress you’ve made and reinforce habits that will support long-term wellbeing.

How far have you come? Rate your progress.

Take a moment to assess your journey using a simple rating scale of 1-10 (where 1 is ‘zero improvement’ and 10 is ‘we’re living our best life’).

  • Physical health: Has your pet’s energy improved? Have you both enjoyed more movement and exercise?
  • Mental wellbeing: Has your pet seemed more stimulated and content? Have you felt more mindful and connected?
  • Social connections: Have you and your pet engaged more with your community? Has your pet become more confident in social settings?
  • Sleep quality: Have changes from Week 5 improved restfulness for both of you?

Consider where you’ve excelled and where you’d like to continue growing. Wellness isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress.

Celebrating your achievements

Every step you’ve taken matters. Every game of tug, every walk in the park, every mindful moment spent together has contributed to your pet’s happiness and your own well-being.

  • Take a moment to acknowledge your efforts.
  • Have a special playdate or outdoor adventure together.
  • Treat your pet to a new toy or their favourite healthy snack.
  • Document your journey—share a before-and-after reflection, write down your key takeaways, or post a celebratory picture!

Wellness is a shared experience, and by participating in this challenge, you’ve enriched not only your pet’s life but your own too.

Setting future wellness goals

Now that you’ve built strong habits, let’s carry them forward! Consider setting small, realistic goals in each key area:

  • Physical health: Maintain a daily movement routine—whether that’s a walk, agility training, or an interactive game.
  • Mental wellbeing: Continue offering mental stimulation through puzzle toys, scent games, or training exercises.
  • Socialisation: In week three, we encouraged you to plan playdates, visit pet-friendly spaces, or join a local pet community to keep connections strong. If you have done this, keep it up!
  • Sleep and relaxation: Maintain bedtime routines, create a calming environment, and ensure your pet has a restful sleep space.

Committing to lifelong wellbeing

The past six weeks may have proven that small, intentional actions can lead to big results. By making wellness a priority, you’re giving your pet a happier, healthier life—and ensuring your own wellbeing in the process.

As you move forward, keep in mind:

  • Wellness is an ongoing journey.
  • The habits you’ve built will continue to benefit you and your pet—stay consistent.

Have you made any commitments to your pet going forward? Think about the activities you’ve introduced during the ComPETability Challenge—daily walks, play sessions, training exercises, or social outings. Keeping up with these habits can ensure a lasting impact on both your pet’s wellbeing and your own. Small, consistent efforts will reinforce the bond you’ve strengthened over the past six weeks and continue to enhance your shared journey of wellness.

The PetSure ComPETability Challenge may be wrapping up, but the journey to a balanced, happy, and healthy life with your pet is for life.
