Meet Aislinn

An animal lover her whole life, it seemed like a natural step for Aislinn to pursue a career in Veterinary Science.

Q. Hi Aislinn! Thanks for joining our 2021 PetSure Vet Student Internship Program. Can you start with telling us a little about yourself?

A. I am a Sydney local and grew up in the Northern Beaches, but now live in Chatswood. Within the field of veterinary medicine, my interests are in small animal, equine and exotic medicine. I also am passionate about wildlife conservation after I was lucky enough to spend some time researching Australian sea lions on Kangaroo Island, SA. Outside of the veterinary world, I love to do anything active or outdoorsy. I just recently did an end-to-end hike of the Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory, which I loved.

Q. What are you hoping to gain from your time at PetSure?

A. I really don’t know much about how pet insurance works, so I would like to gain a better overview of the industry as a whole and the services offered to clients.

Q. What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?

A. Randomly, I was born in Switzerland and lived there for the first few years of my life, although neither myself nor my parents are Swiss. Unfortunately, I can’t speak any Swiss-German either!

Q. Do you have any pets?

A. I have four dogs (two Labradors, a Cavoodle and a very naughty beagle) and two cats (both Burmese).

Q. What do you understand pet insurance to be?

A. Pet insurance is a service owners pay for to get financial assistance and peace-of-mind and when unexpected health problems arise in their pets.

Q. What is your veterinary career goal?

A. I am hoping to start off my veterinary career in mixed practice, as the variety and diversity of a mixed practice caseload particularly appeals to me. Once I am more experienced (and travel is a thing again) I would love to do locum work around Australia, New Zealand and/or Europe.

Pet insurance can help by covering a portion of the eligible vet bill if the unexpected happens. Because it is difficult to predict the costs of veterinary care, it can help to have measures in place to help prepare for the unexpected.
