Appearance and Personality

Originating in Turkey, they are thought to have existed even as early as the 14th century. They are quite a fine boned cat, with a medium-long white coat and often have different coloured eyes. Their life expectancy is 10 to 15 years.

The Angora cat is a natural athlete with a strong intellect. They are friendly, but often form a strong bond with one human. They like to climb and jump, so providing them with appropriate vertical surfaces is important. They are well suited to apartment living but as natural athletes make sure they are provided with plenty of cat trees and toys to help keep them occupied. Keep your Angora cat indoors or in a cat friendly enclosure to help keep them safe from roads, other cats and snakes as well as helps to keep wildlife safe from your cat.

The coat is long and silky. Regular grooming is important to help keep the coat in top condition.
