Anita Lau:
During COVID I thought it was a good idea to own a pet.
Jenny Williams:
I’ve always been a bit of a cat person. I’ve had dogs too, but I just seem to identify better with cats.
Dr. Betty Chan:
Believe it or not, I used to be a dog person until I started working. I realized I didn’t have time for a dog, so along came my first cat.
Anita Lau:
They’re very easy to maintain and…
Jenny Williams:
They’re independent, and yet they’re quite affectionate.
Dr. Betty Chan:
And they’re not as needy as a dog. And now I’m a crazy cat lady with five cats.
Anita Lau:
My cat’s name is Tofu and I have another cat called Tako. I thought of Tofu’s name because when I first saw a picture where it just showed the front of her where it was mostly white, so I thought she looks like a piece of tofu.
Jenny Williams:
This is Eunice. I don’t know, I just liked an old name.
Dr. Betty Chan:
This is Dotti, and she was called Dotti because she used to have dots on her tummy.
Anita Lau:
Tofu is very placid. She loves to sleep all day, likes to only eat and generally just hates people and other cats.
Jenny Williams:
Eunice is top cat. So yeah, she’s demonstrating now with a low guttural grown. So she’s quite sort of bossy and forthright and saying what she wants and getting what she wants.
Dr. Betty Chan:
Dotti’s actually really shy at home, but if I take her out to other places, I’ll visit people or if people come to my home, when there’s new people she’s like the most outgoing cat like, “Come pat me. Love me.”
