My pet insurance provider is Pet Insurance Australia (PIA). I took out insurance because boxers are known to be prone to cancers and growths, cardiac issues and hip issues. Insurance was also recommended at puppy pre-school.

Stanley is basically allergic to life! He is allergic to dust, several tree and grass pollens, cockroaches and a variety of other everyday things. I tried many natural remedies but ended up having to go and see Dr Danielle Hoolahan, a vet dermatologist, to have him tested. He now takes Apoquel daily and has injections regularly in an attempt to build up his resistance to his allergens. This is a very expensive undertaking and I could not afford it without the insurance coverage. It is also comforting to know I have the insurance if my crazy boy hurts himself or needs other veterinary procedures for health problems.

I often recommend PIA as I find they are very easy to deal with and the claim process is easy.

Pet insurance can help by covering a portion of the eligible vet bill if the unexpected happens. Because it is difficult to predict the costs of veterinary care, it can help to have measures in place to help prepare for the unexpected.
