This school holidays, animal-loving kids are invited to register to attend Future Vet Kids Camp , led by veterinarians and sisters Drs Audrey and Alison Shen from television show Bondi Vet: Coast to Coast and Aussie Mobile Vet.

The five-day school holiday program is Sydney-based, caters to kids aged nine to 16 years old and promotes responsible pet ownership, the profession of veterinary medicine and a love and appreciation of all animals and their habitats. The camp dates are 4-8 and 11-15 January 2021.

“We wish we had a camp like this when we were young that opened our eyes to different careers in veterinary medicine,” Dr Audrey said.

“It showcases all the opportunities available as veterinarians and other wonderful professions in the animal industry. Many campers return every year to learn more and progress through the camp groups.”

During the year, the vet sisters have been heavily involved in the treatment and rehabilitation of wildlife injured during the 2019-2020 summer bushfires—and hope to bring the campers some insight into what they have learnt in this area.

“Whether or not the kids end up following the path to a career in veterinary medicine, simply being around lots of different animals (from kittens to snakes) and animal lovers from across the country has such a positive impact on them,” Dr Alison said.

Over the past seven years, pet health insurance provider PetSure has proudly sponsored 12 children to attend the camp. This year, they are again offering a scholarship to two deserving participants. The deadline for applications is 30 November
